Los Angeles!

The Hostel: Duo Housing

After two loooong and horrible flights, I finally made it to Los Angeles. I got a shuttle bus to my hostel, which the driver told me was “in the middle of nowhere”; good start! Matt arrived about four hours later, and we trekked off to explore the area (Korea Town!) and found some lunch- I never had such a MASSIVE serve of noodles!

John Travolta's "star"

Hugh Jackman's footptint!
Then we found our way into Hollywood, which is a 10-min bus ride away. We strolled along the Walk of Fame, all the way up to the Chinese Theatre where we found hand and foot prints of many many celebrities.

Then, back on the bus again, we headed for the Farmers Market/The Grove. The Grove is a big outdoor mall, where we spent most of our time buying me some runners at Nike (so so so much cheaper than in Aus!) and looking in Abercrombie & Fitch- where you are greeted by a gorgeous topless man!
Then at the Farmers Market, we quickly looked around but pretty much ran out of time..because we had to go to...
Hairspray at the Hollywood Bowl

John Stamos, Melissa Joan
Winokur, and Harvey Fiernstein
HAIRSPRAY!!!!!! At the Hollywood Bowl. The Bowl is HUGE. It’s incredible. It’s basically a massive outdoor theatre. John Stamos, Drew Carey, Nick Jonas, plus a bunch of the original Hairspray cast, starred in this version of Hairspray. It was so fun! We also spotted a few celebs whilst there: Vanessa Hudgens, Delta Goodrem & Robbie Coltrane!!  The Melbourne show was definitely better but this one was heaps of fun.

Friends set
For our last day in LA we tried to jam as much in as possible! In the morning, we did the Warner Bros Studio Tour, which was awesome! We got to see the Ellen stage, the Chuck set, the town which was used in Gilmore Girls, a bunch of props and costumes from various movies/TV shows (lots from Harry Potter!) and cars like the BatMobile & the Shaguar from Austin Powers! However my favourite part by far was seeing the Friends set!!!!!

Santa Monica Beach

After WB, we thought we’d go see the Santa Monica/Venice Beach area.. But we didn’t realise quite how far away it was! An hour on the bus! So we didn’t end up spending long there, but it was nice. The beach is massive, as is the carnival-like pier.
Overall, I liked LA. Everyone says it’s shit, but I reckon there’s heaps to do- even if it’s all pretty tacky/touristy! It’s fun! Also, the weather has been perfect. Right now we’re at the airport waiting for our flight to San Fran!!! :)
